March 8, 2010 Elizabeth Pelton dood it again.
She clocked 1:50.72 for the 200 back Sunday nite, another 15-16 NAG record -- to go along w/her 52.06r 100 from Friday -- but this record really moves her into the stratosphere.
She now ranks ninth all-time on the 200 yard backstroke list (foirth performer)among ALL swimmers who have swum this race, not just 15-16 year-old age-groupers.
Ahead of her are: Florida's Gemma Spofforth, ex-Auburn star Kirsty Coventry, double-defending Olympic 200 back champ, and U.S. record-holder Natalie Coughlin.
And that's it.
Throw in Pelton's 1:54.47 pr in 200 IM, No. 2 all-time on the 15-16 girls' list, and her 1:45.14 200 free, No. 5 all-time among girls her age -- and she turned in a truly Phelpsian performacne over the weekend.
What's even more amazing is that she swam all these fantastic times wearing two dragsuits, pulbuoys, floats and 5000-pound weights on her wrists and ankles.
OK, I exaggerate.
However, only a little.
She just wore the weights on her ankles but she DID have her hands tied behind her back!!!
Imagine what she'll do wheen she van use her arms.

March 8, 2010 Pelton's 200 bck record is faster than Natalie Coughlin's 17-18 NAG record (1:41.02)that won her the NCAA title as a freshman in 2001.

March 9, 2010 Pelton is on fire, that 200 IM was less than 4 tenths off of Dagny Knutson's NAG record, in which Knutson swam in a lzr. Also, the 100 back was great going 52.0. The 200 back however was most impressive, when Coughlin went 149, she was out in 52, and Pelton was out only in 54 giving her tons of room to improve and eventually smash that record.
